Here's what's on tap for the week of March 23. 

Monday

Charley talks about Bach's Cello Suites, and shares a performance by Zachary Carrettin of the Boulder Bach Festival, which presents a "Bach Uncaged" concert on Friday and Saturday. Carrettin plays the suites on his electric violin. 

Tuesday  

Charley tells the charming story of why Stravinsky composed the "Firebird" ballet, and we'll hear a performance of the piece. The Colorado Symphony plays the "Firebird" Suite on Friday and Saturday

WEDNESDAY 

Charley talks about Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez and shares a recording of the piece. The Boulder Symphony performs it on Saturday in Boulder.

Thursday

Charley shares a portrait of conductor Andrew Litton, music director of the Colorado Symphony, as well as a recording of Litton conducting the Dallas Symphony. Hear Litton in action this Saturday night on CPR Classical when we broadcast a recent Colorado Symphony concert featuring music by George Gershwin and Samuel Barber.

FriDAY

Charley offers a look at violinist Anne Akiko Meyers -- who recently visited CPR for an interview -- as well as a recording of one of her performances. She plays Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto during Saturday's Colorado Symphony broadcast.
