Colorado is firmly out of the economic recession, says a new survey from the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business. The index compiled by surveys of state business leaders was released Wednesday.
Executive Director Richard Wobbekind says for the past eight quarters confidence has been more stable than ever in the index’s 11-year history.
“What’s really noticeable when you look at the survey over the past almost 3 years now, we’re seeing very stable survey results a lot less volatility than we had seen earlier in the survey,” Wobbekind said.
The current business confidence level stands at 61.7. Any number about 50 signals a positive outlook for businesses over the next quarter.
Statewide, the biggest employment gains in February were in construction, mining and logging, as well as in the education and health services sectors.
“Business people are not only evaluating the economy and saying things look good, but they’re very confident quarter to quarter that they’re beliefs are very solid, they’re on solid ground,” Wobbekind said.
