Vail Dance Festival is going to make a big career move. Damian Woetzel, who has helped make the Vail festival a mecca for dancers from around the world, will become president of the Juilliard School in New York in July 2018. Woetzel told Colorado Matters that as head of one of the world's most prestigious art conservatories he wants to help prepare new generations of artists for the "DIY world."

The Vail Dance festival runs July 29 through Aug. 12. Woetzel is a former lead dancer with the New York City Ballet. He's also the director of the Aspen Institute Arts Program.
