photo: Heather Maloney and Darlingside at OpenAirIn a rare OpenAir double feature, Heather Maloney and Darlingside recently dropped by to perform in the CPR Performance Studio together.

The two Massachusetts folk acts joined forces for the "Woodstock" EP released earlier this year, now they have hit the road together for a joint tour that includes performances at Swallow Hill Music on Sept. 11, the McNichols Building on Sept. 12, and the Boulder Theater on Sept. 13 as part of the There With Care Red Carpet event.

After hearing Maloney and Darlingside collaborate beautifully on songs like "1855" and "Blow the House Down," it's easy to understand why they joined forces in the first place. Maloney also played a new solo song, and Darlingside performed a tune of their own as well.

Maloney and the members of Darlingside spoke with Alisha Sweeney about how the collaboration came about, their respective songwriting processes, and meeting musical hero Graham Nash.
