Milwaukee alternative folk trio Field Report stopped into our CPR Performance Studio on a snowy November afternoon prior to a show at the Hi-Dive that also featured former OpenAir visitors Tristen and Eros & the Eschaton on the bill.

The band, featuring frontman Christopher Porterfield and Thomas Wincek of Volcano Choir, released new album "Marigolden" last month. This led Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett to declare Oct. 22, 2014 "Field Report Day."

In addition to playing a few "Marigolden" songs including single "Home (Leave the Lights On)," the band spoke with Scott Carney about their songwriting process, taking a step up from the last record and the process of getting their own day in their hometown as a "total surprise."
