OpenAir Holiday Programming: Our 2014 schedule

Next week, OpenAir goes all holiday music starting at noon on Dec. 24 and ending at 6 p.m. on December 25, with some added flair on the 20th.

Check out highlights of our special holiday programming below:

Dec. 20 at 12 p.m., Dec. 24 at 12 p.m.: Mile High Noon Holiday Special

Alisha Sweeney kicks off the holiday music with a great hour of Colorado artists on the Mile High Noon Holiday Special.

Dec. 20 at 5 p.m.: Retrofit: Holiday Rarities

Mike Flanagan celebrates the season with some lesser-known cuts from the holiday music archives.

Dec. 24 at 4 p.m.: A Very Hipster Christmas

It's a cooler-than-thou holiday mindset just in time for the most colorful, most commercial, most dominating force of the winter holidays. "A Very Hipster Christmas" is one sick hour of post shoegaze modern holiday genre tunes, guaranteed to brighten your season and put you a few 180 gram vinyl tracks ahead of the rest.

Stay cool with "A Very Hipster Christmas" set to air during prime hipster shopping!

Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.: Alt '50s Christmas

The '50s dominates nostalgia. Babies boomed in the era that rolled out Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and the 1955 Thunderbird. Alternative sounds were not on the radar, and yet they existed in rockabilly reindeer songs and tales of the space age Santa.

Get rid of that greasy kid stuff, put some mistletoe on your hula hoop, swivel your hips, grab a cheeseburger with fries and a cherry coke, roll the fuzzy dice. It’s an "Alt '50s Christmas" on OpenAir!

Dec. 24 at 12 p.m. - Dec. 25 at 6 p.m.: All holiday music

Seasonal rarities, oddities, rockabilly, doo-wop, prog, indie, folk, you name it. The holidays show up in all times and all genres. A soundtrack like no other from OpenAir!
