DeVotchKa performed this week in the CPR Performance Studio with members of the Colorado Symphony their concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday. The event will mark the fifth time the veteran Denver band has collaborated with the Symphony for a live show of DeVotchKa music.
OpenAir's Alisha Sweeney spoke with DeVotchKa frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nick Urata about keeping the setlist for the Symphony shows fresh each year, how "delusions of grandeur" help the members compose the scores for these performances and the band's work for the upcoming Denver run of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Sweeney Todd."
