Eagulls, ‘Skipping’

· May 9, 2016, 6:08 am

Eagulls, who have basically nothing in common with the similarly named American rock band, will release their sophomore album, "Ullages," on Friday.

"Skipping," the latest single from the Leeds quintet, charges right out of the gate with a chugging bass line that propels the song with menacing post-punk energy. Meanwhile, George Mitchell's unapologetic snarl brings to mind fellow British vocalists like The Fall's Mark E. Smith and Wire's Colin Newman.

Eagulls perform at Denver's Larimer Lounge on June 20.
