Zola Jesus: ‘Soak’

Nika Roza Danilova, who performs as Zola Jesus, confronts themes of death on her forthcoming album "Okovi." The haunting electronic production of the record is a shift away from the pop-oriented songs of 2014's "Taiga."

Danilova says "Soak" is written from the perspective of someone about to die. The singer's operatic vocals lend a tragic beauty to the song.

Zola Jesus performs Saturday night on the main stage at the Underground Music Showcase in Denver.
