Snapshots From SXSW 2018: Nathaniel Rateliff, Superorganism, Lucy Dacus, Shopping And More

CPR's OpenAir hosts Jessi Whitten and Scott Carney spent last week in Austin, Texas, for the South By Southwest music festival. They attended dozens of concerts throughout the five-day event.

Their favorite shows included those from established artists Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Andrew W.K. and ESG, along with new discoveries like Australian singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly, saxophone-driven punk rockers French Vanilla and Japanese pop-rock quartet CHAI.

They also captured some unique sights from the festival, including memorable band outfits, music-themed cocktails and a very cool cassette vending machine.

Day One

This band literally stopped me in my tracks on the walk home. @frenchvanillaband rocking the hell out of a kitschy ole Irish pub at @sxsw. Someone finally delivering the level of saxophone I crave.
