Health care for Colorado residents has improved in a number of areas since the Affordable Care Act was enacted, according to a new national report released Wednesday.
The New York-based Commonwealth Fund scored each state in 42 categories, from access to prevention, mortality rates to hospital admissions.
Colorado ranks eighth in nation this year, up from 12th in 2014.
“Among our 36 indicators that we measure improvement trends over time, they improved on nine and only worsened on one," said research director Doug McCarthy.
Colorado ranked in the top 10 in residents leading healthy lives, avoidable use of a hospital and prevention and treatment. It ranked in the middle of the pack for access and affordability.
The report is the first from the foundation to reflect a full year of data since the Affordable Care Act went into effect.
