RTD Board Criticizes Airport Train Delays

Denver-area transit officials are concerned about persistent operational problems with the new train to the airport despite good ridership and on-time figures.

RTD's general manager, Dave Genova, says the University of Colorado A-Line has had an on-time performance average of 89 percent since opening in April. The train also recently reached a new weekday ridership average with 16,910 passengers.

However The Denver Post reports RTD board members still called for more improvements at a meeting on Tuesday, with Judy Lubow saying persistent problems have been "impacting our reputation."

The A-Line has been halted by lightning strikes, most recently on Monday. On Wednesday a train car lost power, causing delays. Workers have also had to be stationed at several gate crossings along the route to ensure they are functioning properly.
