A highlight at the Zee Jaipur Literature Festival in Boulder this weekend will be author Marcia Douglas, who's latest book is "The Marvellous Equations Of The Dread: A Novel in Bass Riddim." The CU Boulder professor of creative writing and Carribean literature blends Jamaica's history of violence alongside its creative humanity.

"The Marvellous Equations" makes use of a range of voices. There are a series of narratives, sections inspired by music and what Douglas calls the "angel's ledger book." Douglas structured the novel around a reggae aesthetic, drawing from the music itself and the culture surrounding it.

The Zee Jaipur Literature Festival runs Friday through Sunday, Sept. 23. Register to attend for free here.
