Rep. Gardner: Speed Up Drilling in the Arctic

Listen Now

Republican Congressman Cory Gardner thinks the way to bring down gas prices and unemployment is to drill for more domestic oil in the Arctic. He has in mind the Chukchi and Beaufort seas off the northern coast of Alaska. Oil companies already own leases there but they’re waiting on permits from the EPA to drill test wells. These permits deal with air quality because drilling involves all sorts of operations that create emissions. Gardner’s bill to speed up the permitting process has passed the House. He speaks with CPR's Ryan Warner.
