SHEL returned this month to the CPR Performance Studio for the first time since 2014. The band features the four Holbrook sisters -- Eva, Liza, Hannah and Sara -- from Fort Collins.
The band, which now spends much of its time in Nashville, recently released the album "Just Crazy Enough." The Holbrooks worked with producer and former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart for the record, which hit No. 13 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart upon its release in May. They also gained attention with a quirky cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman."
SHEL performed three songs from "Just Crazy Enough" in our studio and spoke with Alisha Sweeney about getting to know and work with Stewart, balancing their family life with their performing career and how they split their time across the country. (One of the sisters, Sarah, was absent for this session.)

Eva Holbrook on the band's home state pride
"We're homeless musicians. If we had a home it would be something like an airport or a van. But we're always going to be Colorado girls because we're natives.
"How do they say? 'You can take the girls out of the mountains. You can't take the mountains out of the girls.'"
Hannah Holbrook on balancing family life with band life
"There's the family relationship and our sister dynamic, and then there's the business, professional side of things. A lot of times we're relating to each other on that professional side of things. ... We all take that very seriously.
"There is grace there in that family dynamic and knowing what's important to each other. And supporting each other in dreams that are outside of SHEL sometimes too."
