Cellist Jay Campbell plays the Sarabande from J.S. Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G. Recorded June 14, 2016, in the CPR Performance Studio.

Cellist Jay Campbell describes himself as “dedicated to introducing audiences to the music of our time.”

He champions music by modern composers like Gyorgy Ligeti and John Zorn. He’s also a  new member of the JACK Quartet -- which performed music by John Luther Adams at Crested Butte Music Festival this summer.

Campbell opted to play something a little more traditional during his recent session in the CPR Performance Studio: a movement from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1.

It’s a delicate take on a well-known piece. Watch how Campbell lets the music breathe in a way that helps the listener savor each moment.
