Photographer Documents Colorado's Scenic Byways
Jim Steinberg photographed Colorado's 25 scenic byways for two new books. He speaks with Ryan Warner.
Uncompahgre Storm Light - A storm clears over the Sawtooths and Courthouse Rock.
Shot at sunset from above Ridgway on the San Juan Skyway.
Perky Sue - Perky Sue sprouts in such abundance in wet springs that it colors whole swaths
of shortgrass prairie, here along the Santa Fe Trail in Comanche National Grassland.
American Basin - The Lake Fork of the Gunnison winds through summer wildflowers
including magenta Parry primrose, white bittercress, and mountain bluebells near its
headwaters in American Basin on the Alpine Loop.
Ancient Ones - Dawn light paints the ancient and gnarled bristlecone pines, trees
as old as 1,600 years, at the Mount Goliath Natural Area on Mount Evans.
