You may not know this, but since OpenAir started two years ago, we've included Hanukkah music in our mix of unique holiday offerings. The Levees have some particularly great tunes, like
"How Do You Spell Channukkahh?" (That seems to be a concern for some, so reach for a solution in song!)
The Levees are a fun young band who are giving the Bing Crosby of Hanukkah, Adam Sandler, a run for his gelt. But how can you get through the season without hearing "Eight Crazy Nights" at least once?
Another surprise, there seem to be more Hanukkah songs than Thanksgiving songs. So, dotting the vast musical landscape we paint on a daily basis on OpenAir, you'll hear some Festival of Lights inspired offerings over these eight days.
By one calculation, we won't see another Thanksgivukkah for 77,798 years. I don't even know what that year would be. A more likely calculation comes from the website
Chabad.org where it is reported that the first night of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving will fall on the same date again in 2070 and then again in 2165.
It's all a little boggling. What we can do now is enjoy this quirky beginning of the holiday season 2013 (or 5774), spin the dreidel, and pass the pumpkin pie.
