With all these "Best of 2013" lists emerging online, thought I'd share my favorite covers!

Favorites played on-air:

Brittany Howard and Ruby Amanfu - "I Wonder" (Rodriguez)

Thao and the Get Down Stay Down - "Brand New Key" (Melanie)

I also stumbled upon this fun, musical web series called Beat Scout where producer/musician/host Fresh Big Mouf samples everyday sounds and turns them into legit covers of rad songs. For instance check out his rendition of The Lumineers hit "Ho Hey" to the right:

...oh and speaking of The Lumineers, they did a wonderful cover of Talking Heads' "This Must Be The Place" out on the deluxe edition of their debut album out this year. Watch a live version here.
