Heavy rain is forecast for much of Colorado Tuesday, raising the risk of flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for nearly the whole state. It says a strong storm system mixing with typical summer monsoon moisture could cause 2 to 3 inches of rain to fall in less than an hour in some places starting in the afternoon. More rain is possible overnight into Wednesday.

Southern Colorado has been under flood warnings for the last two days but no major damage has been reported.
