The Fresh & Onlys are an integral component of San Francisco's prolific garage rock revival along with names like Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees, but several of the members have roots in Colorado: guitarist Wymond Miles grew up in Aurora, Colo., and frontman Tim Cohen briefly lived in Boulder.
The quartet stopped by the CPR Performance Studio this week before a headlining set at Hi-Dive, the last stop of their summer tour. We heard them perform a few songs from their fifth LP "House of Spirits," which was released in June.
Keefer Fulgham chatted with the group about the importance of the album as a complete work of art (Miles used to work at Denver's Twist & Shout), making a pilgrimage to the desert of Arizona to write the record, and what makes the San Francisco music scene so vibrant.
