Celebrate the holidays with CPR Classical specials

The holiday spirit is in the air—literally—this time of year, as CPR Classical fills the airwaves with a variety of special programs to make your season a little merrier.

Here’s a snapshot of some classical music specials to enjoy this week:

Dec. 22, 3 p.m.
“Charles Dickens and the Spirit of Christmas”
Delve into the sounds and history of this festive literary treasure, Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” This special airs again on CPR Classical on Dec. 25 at 7 p.m., and on CPR News Dec. 24 at 10 a.m. and Dec. 25 at 7 p.m.

Dec 23., 7 p.m.
“A Colorado Choral Christmas”

Join hosts Charley Samson and David Rutherford for this two-hour special with various holiday performances by choral ensembles right here in Colorado. 

Dec. 24, 8 a.m.
“A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols”

This two-hour Christmas Eve service performed by King's College in Cambridge, England integrates Bible readings and carol singing to honor a more than 100-year-old tradition of Christmas Eve worship.

Dec. 24, 1:30 p.m.
“Tchaikovsky’s complete ‘Nutcracker’ ballet”

Delight in this holiday classic and learn the story behind the famous ballet. Prime yourself for the program by with a story about the Colorado Ballet’s “Nutcracker” schedule.
