Former Broncos player Gary Kubiak has agreed to become the 15th head coach of the Denver Broncos. Kubiak was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Raves.
"Having coached on three Super Bowl champions and 11 playoff teams, Gary knows what it will take to deliver another World Championship to Broncos fans," Elway said.
Kubiak replaces John Fox, who was ousted last Monday following Denver's loss to Indianapolis in the playoffs.
Elway and team president Joe Ellis met with Kubiak in Houston for several hours Sunday.
Kubiak was Elway's backup quarterback from 1983-91 and Denver's offensive coordinator from 1995-2005 under Mike Shanahan.
