Title: HB15-1143 Tax Incentive For Home Health Care

Sponsors: Rep. Kathleen Conti (R-Littleton), Sen. Larry Crowder (R-Alamosa)

Status: Introduced and assigned to the House Health, Insurance, and Environment, Finance, Appropriations committees on Jan. 28. The House Health, Insurance and Environment Committee referred an amended bill to the Finance Committee on Feb. 26. The Finance Committee killed the bill on March 11.

What the bill would have done: Create a tax credit for seniors seeking health care in their own homes. The five-year income tax credit would allow seniors to claim no more than $3,000 per year for medical equipment, telehealth equipment, or qualifying services.

How it would have affected your refund: This bill would have decreased the average taxpayer refund by $9.13 in the fiscal year 2015-16.
