Colorado Family Asking Congress To Pass Legislation For Highly Specialized Care

Everett Edigeris is eight years old, born with spina bifida and a buildup of fluid in his brain. He’s had 20 surgeries already in his life and regularly meets with many specialists at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

This week, he and his family are going to Washington D.C. They want Congress to pass a bipartisan bill, called the ACE Kids Act.

The bill would give states the option to create nationally-designated hospital networks to coordinate and manage highly specialized care for children like Everett.

Those backing the bill say the program could save billions of dollars by reducing emergency room visits and hospitalizations.
