A school bus carrying 44 elementary students went off a road and rolled down a 30- to 40-foot embankment in southwest Colorado, but only minor injuries were reported.

Capt. Adrian Driscoll with the Colorado State Patrol tells The Durango Herald that 10 children and the driver were taken to a hospital with cuts and bruises after Tuesday afternoon's crash.

The Durango School District bus, which was not equipped with seat belts, rolled once and came to rest on its wheels.

Driscoll says alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash, and no citations have been issued. Investigators have not said why the bus went off the road.

The driver's name was not released.
