Concentrix Closing Boulder County Facility, Laying Off 270

A California-based international customer care and call center company has announced plans to close its facility in Boulder County, which will result in about 270 layoffs.

The Daily Camera reports that Concentrix filed a notice with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment last week, saying operations at the facility on the IBM campus would shut down around mid-April.

Concentrix representative Jyllene Miller says the customer service industry has shifted to "more of a work-at-home model."

The announcement of the layoffs comes as Boulder County's 2.5 percent unemployment rate ranks among the lowest in Colorado and the country.

It also marks the first significant closure in the county following Qualcomm's September announcement that it was laying off 158 workers at its Boulder facility.
