Colorado Unemployment Rate Among Lowest In US

Federal statistics show that Colorado's average unemployment rate fell below 4 percent last year and remained below that of the national average.

The Denver Post reports that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data says Colorado's 2015 unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, compared to a 5.3 percent rate for the U.S. The state's unemployment rate was the 10th lowest in the country.

According to the statistics, Colorado's "labor underutilization" rate fell from 9.4 percent in 2014 to 7.9 percent in 2015. The labor underutilization rate includes unemployed, part-time workers who want full-time work. It also includes people without a job who have sought work in the past year but have stopped actively looking.

In Colorado, there is about one underutilized worker for every one who is officially unemployed.
