Colorado’s Young Farmers Face High Prices And A Dry Future

Farming has never been an easy business, but high costs for land and water had made it even harder for young people trying to break in. 

That's the conclusion of a recent study from the National Young Farmers Coalition. The group worked with professors at Fort Lewis College in Durango to survey 379 farmers across the western U.S. It found that access to water, drought and climate change ranked as the top concerns fpr the respondents. (CPR News)

Those challenges have made it harder for young people fill the boots of aging farmers. Colorado Matter's Ryan Warner talked to Kate Greenberg, who led the study, and Dustin Stein, who manages a farm and ranch in Southwest Colorado.
