Former Leadville Police Chief Michael Leake has been arrested on a felony warrant accusing him of theft, embezzlement, forgery and several acts of pawning firearms belonging to the Leadville Police Department.

Leake resigned in December. In January, the district attorney began investigating with help from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

District Attorney Bruce Brown says the public trust has been violated.

No attorney for Leake was listed in court records and Leake could not be located for comment.

Leake served as police chief beginning in 2009.
