The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports that crews will use a helicopter to lift 13 steel posts to two sites along the northern Glenwood Canyon. The fences come after boulders the size of small cars tumbled onto the highway along the Colorado River in February.

Colorado Department of Transportation geotechnical specialists chose the fence locations and say they included some overlapping protection.

The highway will be fully closed between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

The rock slide mitigation project will continue until September. Workers don't expect to need any full closures after Thursday.
