Small Colorado Winery Smashed By Water Truck

A semitrailer hauling water slammed into an unoccupied winery in Park County, destroying the building.

The Colorado State Patrol says the accident occurred overnight Monday in the small community of Bailey, which is about 40 miles southwest of Denver.

Trooper Nate Reid told The Denver Post that the truck crashed into the Aspen Peak Cellars winery, which was closed at the time.

Reid says the truck was southbound on U.S. 285 about midnight when it entered a curve at the bottom of a steep hill, traveled across the northbound lanes and went off the road.

The driver was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood with serious injuries.

The name of the driver was not released.
