Custer County Sheriff Shannon Byerly told The Gazette their “main focus has been on evacuation.”

Shelters for the evacuated are the First Southern Baptist Church in Florence and the Valley Bible Fellowship in Silver Cliff. A third evacuation center is open at the Colorado State Fair Ag Place in Pueblo.

Highway 165 is closed from McKenzie Junction to Ophir Creek, and Highway 96 is closed from McKenzie Junction to Wetmore. There’s an air quality alert issued for Pueblo County -- people with asthma and allergies are advised to stay inside.
