Ditch The Shopping Colorado, Instead Go Outside For #FreshAirFriday

Admission to all 42 Colorado state parks is free on Black Friday.

For a second year, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is promoting #FreshAirFriday, inviting people to head outside the day after Thanksgiving rather than fighting the busy shopping crowds.

Great Outdoors Colorado is covering the cost for access to the state parks on Friday.

“Families and their children should be sure to check calendars online to see what events in particular are happening,” said GOCO communications director Rosemary Dempsey. “I believe there’s one at Barr Lake State Park.”

That park in Brighton will host the Great Waddle Walk-Off. Humans of all ages and their dogs are invited to take part in a three-mile stroll until 4 p.m. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says it’s an opportunity to try something new with activities ranging from sledding and skating to hiking and skiing.

“Whether people are looking for an activity to do on their own, with their kids, with their friends, there’s really a great opportunity to head outdoors and enjoy these parks,” Dempsey said.
