Nurse Ratched is among the most terrifying antagonists ever portrayed on film.
For those who have seen the 1975 film "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest," it's no wonder the American Film Institute named Ratched the fifth greatest movie villain of all time -- just behind the Wicked Witch of the West. The character's humorless authoritarianism and emotional stranglehold over her patients contradict the nature of her medical profession.
Cherry Glazerr singer and guitarist Clementine Creevy evokes Ratched's "eyes like daggers" on her namesake song from the Los Angeles trio. But while she recognizes the cruelty of her subject, Creevy ultimately paints Ratched as a punk rock heroine. She even pleads: "You're so cold, master / Where do I begin?"
It's a standout song on Cherry Glazerr's new album "Apocalipstick" -- a record that looks to expose the young band to a wider audience in 2017.
Cherry Glazerr performs Feb. 3 at Larimer Lounge.
