Will Marsh recorded the songs of his debut EP as Gold Connections three years ago as an undergraduate at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. But he just recently released them to the world.
The reason for the delay was a good one: Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest remixed the songs into the versions heard on Gold Connections' self-titled release. The two musicians were college classmates and one-time bandmates.
Despite the new mix, there's still a lo-fi charm to songs like "Faith In Anyone." Marsh's fuzzy guitars and somewhat weary vocals bring to mind earlier indie rock groups like Pavement and Guided By Voices.
