Anticipation was high for Annie Clark's follow-up to her Grammy-winning 2015 album as St. Vincent. The singer and guitarist teamed up with modern pop guru Jack Antonoff for her fifth album, "Masseduction," which also features contributions from Jenny Lewis and Kamasi Washington.
It's safe to say CPR's OpenAir listeners were not disappointed: They named "Masseduction" the second best album of 2017 in our annual listener poll.
Standout tracks like "Pills" are a big reason why the album collected so many votes. Clark's skill for blurring the lines between pop and experimental rock is as strong as ever on the single. Lewis provides backing vocals and Washington lays down a soulful saxophone solo in the song's final minute.
St. Vincent performs Jan. 15 at Fillmore Auditorium.
