An El Paso County deputy was fatally shot Monday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Micah Flick, 34, was a husband, as well as a father to 7-year-old twins. Today was his 11-year anniversary on the force.

Three other law enforcement officers were also shot and taken to the hospital, including two deputies and a Colorado Springs police officer. One suspect was dead at the scene and no other suspects are being sought by police, Colorado Springs Police Chief Pete Carey said Monday evening at a news conference.

Carey said the shooting started during the investigation of a car theft around 4 p.m. Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Colorado State Patrol all came to the scene at the Murray Hill apartments on the city's east side.

"This is indeed a difficult day for our agencies," Carey said. "Tonight there is no distinction between our uniforms. State patrol, sheriff's office, and the Colorado Springs Police Department. Our hearts are all broken."

"Deputy Flick was an outstanding member of my agency and he will be missed," added Sheriff Bill Elder.

A procession for Deputy Flick began at 7:30 p.m. at St. Vrain and Hancock and ended at the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

This is the third fatal shooting of a deputy in Colorado in recent weeks.

Douglas County Deputy Zackari Parrish, 29, was shot and killed in a New Year's Eve confrontation at a Highlands Ranch home. Adams County Deputy Heath Gumm, 31, was shot and killed Jan. 24 during a chase that followed a fight at an apartment complex near Thornton.
