Erika Wennerstrom released her debut solo album, "Sweet Unknown," earlier this year. The singer-songwriter, who fronts the long-running Cincinnati band Heartless Bastards, explores a new musical direction on the record, veering into longer-form psychedelic rock.

Before a show at Denver's Globe Hall, Wennerstrom stopped by CPR's OpenAir for a Guest DJ session. Her picks fell mostly within the classic sounds of the 1960s and '70s, with artists like Bob Dylan, Harry Nilsson, Funkadelic and Otis Redding.

She also spoke with Jeremy Petersen about how working as a bartender sparked her love for classic rock, Bob Dylan's influence on modern music and her number one "desert island" song. Hear the full interview above.
