Another one bites the dust.
After Grandoozy announced a "hiatus," another major Denver music festival will not return in 2019.
The Velorama Festival will not take place this year, event organizers RPM Events Group announced today.
Instead, the company said it will focus its efforts on the Colorado Classic bicycle race, which took place in tandem with the music festival over the past two summers. RPM announced in December that the Colorado Classic would become a women-only event.
"Velorama was created as a companion music and cycling festival to the Colorado Classic as part of RPM Events Group’s mission to return pro bicycle racing to Colorado in a sustainable way and with meaningful social impact while showcasing Colorado," the RPM statement said. "By pivoting the Colorado Classic to become a women’s standalone pro bicycle race, we can fulfill that mission without the need for Velorama,"
Velorama brought acts like Modest Mouse, Wilco and Death Cab for Cutie to the city's RiNo Art District in 2017 and 2018. Attendees were able to watch portions of the bicycle race, as its course circled the festival grounds.
Last year's Velorama hit several snags when headliners Glass Animals canceled their headlining appearance and Modest Mouse had to postpone a Friday night set until Saturday.
Even still, the festival brought in tens of thousands of attendees over the course of three days.
