With fresh snow in the mountains, you may be itching to get to the powder. But you have to get to the ski slopes first. That means taking I-70. It can be a dreaded route if there are traffic snarls. But by 2020, the stretch between Golden and Vail will be 'smart,' and sensors will talk to specially equipped cars, giving up-to-the-second information about weather delays, traffic congestion and even accidents. The Colorado Department of Transportation says that could ease congestion. CDOT spokeswoman Amy Ford spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner about Road X and Smart 70.
