The National Western Stock Show is more than the rodeo.

It features all types of farm animals, even the more exotic ones like humpbacked zebu.

The breed of cattle originated out of India and Asia dating back to 6,000 B.C. Zebus, which tend to be docile and light eaters, can be bred for milk, meat or for show.

Tuesday's award-winning zebu belonged to breeder Julie Hughes of Pueblo. She evangelizes the exotic breed.

"They’re just a really fantastic breed. They’re really easy to work with. They’re great for kids as well because they are a smaller breed," Hughes said.
