The Underground Music Showcase, or UMS, returns to Denver's Baker neighborhood this weekend. The music festival -- now in its 17th year -- will host more than 300 independent and underrepresented music acts.
Headliners from out-of-town include experimental pop singer Zola Jesus, heavy metal band Red Fang and blues-rocker Benjamin Booker. But the lineup is made up of mostly Colorado acts.
CPR's OpenAir host Alisha Sweeney joined Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner to talk about local music highlights at this year's festival. That list includes a few bands that are playing farewell shows at the event -- like Denver's Shady Elders, in the clip above.
