Colorado Public Radio’s Award-Wining News Program ‘Colorado Matters’ Celebrates 10th Anniversary
CENTENNIAL, Colo. - August 30, 2011 – Colorado Public Radio’s (CPR) award-winning daily interview program, “Colorado Matters,” celebrates its 10th anniversary on September 3. Since its inception, the program has focused on sharing insightful stories about people, issues and ideas affecting Colorado.
“Ten years ago, Colorado Public Radio set out to provide listeners with more local perspective on news happening in Colorado,” said Kelley Griffin, CPR’s news director. “As ‘Colorado Matters’ turns 10, we’re certainly celebrating our accomplishments over the last decade, but we continue to seek ways to make the show better, too, whether that’s expanding our coverage of key issues, telling stories in more compelling ways or gathering insight from the community to add more perspective to our stories.”
“Colorado Matters” has been recognized repeatedly for excellence in public radio by the Colorado Broadcasters Association, Public Radio News Directors Inc. and many others, including the National Headliner Awards, which honored “A Day in the Life of a Lawmaker” with first place in the feature or human interest story category. “Colorado Matters” provides listeners with information and insight into stories that define the state, including a monthly conversation with Colorado’s governor, which began after Gov. Bill Ritter was elected in 2006. The program also features comprehensive education and health care coverage as a result of expanded news programming.
“Colorado Matters” airs weekdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. A sampling of shows from the previous week airs at 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. on Sundays.
