Colorado Public Radio's CPR Classical is expanding its 2015 spring broadcast schedule to include performances from the Aspen Music Festival Winter Recital Series, the return of the Colorado Symphony and the production of Opera Colorado’s “The Magic Flute.” The enhanced schedule includes five live and one recorded broadcast, as well as exclusive interviews with world-renowned conductors and musicians.
“From the Aspen Music Festival’s Winter Recital Series to the Colorado Symphony’s Masterworks programs, the diversity and wealth is indicative of all that Colorado has to offer,” said Monika Vischer, CPR’s classical program director. “It’s a privilege to partner with Colorado’s top classical organizations and provide statewide access to these transformative cultural events for thousands of listeners.”
The Aspen Music Festival’s Winter Recital Series is new to CPR Classical this year. The final live performance on March 14 will feature an all-Schumann recital with Russian pianist Vladimir Feltsman. Previous performances featured cellist Alisa Weilerstein and pianist Orli Shaham.
CPR Classical will also air four Masterworks programs of the Colorado Symphony’s 2014/2015 season: The American Festival: Part I and II; Symphonic Firsts with concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams; and Bronfman Plays Beethoven.
“After further discussions, CPR is pleased to continue our 15-year broadcast partnership with the Colorado Symphony Association (CSA),” said Senior Vice President of Programming Sean Nethery. “CPR Classical is a community service committed to working with arts and cultural leaders like the Symphony, and we look forward to continuing to expand our Colorado music connections."
The final date on the spring schedule is Opera Colorado’s production of “The Magic Flute,” which CPR Classical will air live on Friday, May 2.
