CENTENNIAL, Colo. – June 27, 2013 – Colorado Public Radio (CPR) News is one of 15 initial public radio organizations that will contribute to NPR’s Here & Now, beginning Monday, July 1.
A live production from NPR, WBUR in Boston, Mass. and public radio organizations across the nation, Here & Now reflects the fluid world of news as it’s happening, with timely, in-depth conversation and analysis. Here & Now will air Monday – Thursday from 12-2 p.m. MST on Colorado Public Radio News, replacing Talk of the Nation, which ceases production on June 27. Science Friday with Ira Flatow will continue on Fridays at noon.
As one of the program’s regular contributors, CPR will provide Here & Now with Colorado stories and sources for interviews, in addition to offering occasional reporter debriefs. CPR will also contribute to special segments, including business and technology.
“Here & Now is truly a breakthrough in the way public radio organizations contribute to national broadcasting,” said Kelley Griffin, CPR’s vice president of news. “CPR News has worked extensively with NPR, covering breaking news and providing feature stories to air nationally on Morning Edition and All Things Considered. As a contributor to Here & Now, we will take a more formal role, working with the program’s staff to determine what Colorado stories and voices need to air each week.”
