New Leadership Will Advance CPR's Long-Term Growth Initiatives
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Oct. 11, 2010) – Colorado Public Radio (CPR), the state’s only two-channel news and classical music network, recently hired Tara Friedman as director of philanthropy and promoted Jennifer Flatt to director of marketing.
Friedman brings to her role at CPR more than 10 years of experience in philanthropy in Colorado. She will develop and execute strategies to build financial support for the news, information and classical music that CPR provides to the Colorado community.
“The ongoing support we receive from listeners, businesses and major donors makes CPR's quality programming possible,” said CPR Vice President of Development Sue Coughlin. “Tara's leadership will be instrumental to our work maintaining current levels of support and building relationships with individual donors who can make significant, long-lasting contributions.”
Leading up to her position at Colorado Public Radio, Tara Friedman worked for the University of Colorado Foundation, Community Shares of Colorado, and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. In her previous position as director of major and planned gifts at Planned Parenthood, Friedman solicited and secured six-figure gifts and played a major role in the successful completion of a $10-million comprehensive campaign. Friedman holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Colorado.
Jennifer Flatt, who has been with Colorado Public Radio for six years, was promoted from marketing manager. As the director of marketing, she becomes responsible for execution and supervision of day-to-day marketing and public relations initiatives.
“A natural collaborator and leader, Jenny will continue to be instrumental in emphasizing strategic communications for CPR's overall business objectives, including audience growth, classical music education and outreach, and fund development support,” said Bob Schenkein, CPR's vice president of marketing.
Flatt has over a decade of experience in nonprofit communications and marketing. She started her career at the Florida Orchestra in Tampa, Fla., followed by three years working with The Colorado Symphony in marketing and development. She joined Colorado Public Radio in 2004 and has held a primary role in communications and community outreach throughout. Flatt received a bachelor's degree in art history from Vassar College.
