Kelley Griffin promoted to VP of News & Doug Clifton named VP of Music
CENTENNIAL, Colo. – August 1, 2012 – Colorado Public Radio (CPR) announced the promotion of two broadcasting veterans. News Director Kelley Griffin was promoted to vice president of news and Chief Content Officer Doug Clifton was named vice president of music. Both are newly created positions at CPR.
"These leadership roles will help ensure that CPR continues to be innovative and responsive to today’s changing media landscape,” said Sean Nethery, senior vice president of programming. “Kelley and Doug are both trusted professionals in their fields and have the experience critical to guiding CPR as we anticipate and grow with the evolving needs of our listeners.
Griffin joined CPR in 1993 as a business reporter. Following that position she served as news director before being named the senior producer of CPR’s daily interview program, “Colorado Matters,” which she helped create in 2001. After four years as senior producer of “Colorado Matters,” Griffin became news director again in 2005 and has since overseen the daily operations of CPR’s newsroom, managing several phases of expansion that have doubled the resources of CPR’s news department over the last seven years. Under her leadership, the news department has won countless awards for excellence in journalism.
Clifton joined CPR in 2011 as chief content officer and managed all aspects of CPR’s on-air and digital content messaging, cross-promotion and programming. In that role he has been responsible for managing CPR’s three-channel statewide network to ensure that all programming elements work together to create the best possible listening experience. Clifton’s background includes more than three decades in radio as music and program director, and he has also served stations in a promotional capacity while working extensively on air.
