CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Nov. 10, 2010 – Colorado Public Radio (CPR) welcomes Sadie Babits as assistant news director and senior producer for CPR's daily local news program, “Colorado Matters,” and Jonathan Brown as news host and reporter.
Babits oversees the interviews and reports featured in “Colorado Matters,” and assists News Director Kelley Griffin.
“From her work at public radio stations in Oregon, Idaho and Arizona, and the Northwest News Network, Sadie is very familiar with the issues that are uniquely important to the West,” said Griffin. “I know she will enhance our ongoing efforts to produce quality in-depth news stories that resonate with our listeners, while effectively leading our news team.”
Before joining CPR, Babits was working as a freelancer in Portland, Ore., where she reported for NPR; “Marketplace,” from American Public Media; “World Vision Report;” and “Only a Game,” from WBUR. She held hosting, reporting, and editing roles at Oregon Public Broadcasting, Northwest News Network, and Boise State Public Radio. She was recently one of 10 journalists chosen to travel throughout Israel to learn about water scarcity, solar energy and “green” architecture.
In his new role at Colorado Public Radio, Brown replaces former News Host Dan Drayer and will host NPR's “Morning Edition” and contribute daily news reports.
“Jonathan's hosting and reporting experience in public radio, combined with print media in Colorado, will offer another valuable dimension to our news coverage,” said Griffin.
Most recently, Brown hosted NPR's “All Things Considered” and produced daily news stories for North Country Public Radio in Canton, N.Y. Previously, he did hosting and reporting at KCPW in Salt Lake City, UT, and KVON in Napa, CA; writing for an advertising agency in San Francisco; and doing digital and print production at The Denver Post and The Daily Camera.
