Hip hop, rock and reggae fans in Colorado have a lot to look forward to over the next few months, according to Rolling Stone contributing editor Steve Knopper.
As part of Colorado Matters' summer music preview, Knopper points out some highlights at venues across the state. Knopper recommends major pop acts Lionel Richie and CeeLo at Red Rocks on June 11.
He also points to events at more intimate venues like neo-soul artist Maxwell at Belly Up in Aspen on June 19, and reggae legend Jimmy Cliff at the Denver Botanic Gardens on July 28.
Knopper says that along with jam bands and classic rock shows that are perennially popular, there is a lot of great hip hop coming to Colorado. Future is one of the newer hip-hop stars coming to Denver. He'll play the Ogden Theater on June 23.
Heading west, Lady Antebellum and Erich Church are the headliners at the Country Jam in Grand Junction, June 19-22.
